about us

think lockhart has been organising, running and leading art events, projects and exhibitions within the U.K for well over a decade.

Creative Directors, Kate and Jon Lockhart met whilst reading Fine Art at the University of Reading. Their separate practices form an integral part of think lockhart and are at the forefront of their working relationship. They manage projects collaboratively by focusing their alternative approaches towards planning and creating.

As artists, they feel that it is vital to experiment and to push boundaries. Risk taking represents a key component of their work and is something they naturally encourage in others. Both Kate and Jon constantly re-assess their roles within think lockhart in order to achieve the very best results out of each project. This generosity of spirit is transformed into an open and productive approach to working with clients. They initiate activities and events that allow individuals to develop the confidence to explore their ideas, whilst guiding and equipping participants with the creative tools needed to realise their aspirations.

Kate's work is predominately 2d based and includes paint, printmaking, mixed media, drawing, installation and site specific work.

In 2005 she returned to full time education and began a Masters in Fine Art at the Royal College of Art, London. Since completing the course in 2007 she has worked on corporate commissions and educational projects for think lockhart.

As Head of Creative Making, Kate oversees projects in which the physical process of 'making' is the main objective of the client. From a one day workshop exchanging skills, knowledge and expertise to the production of large scale public commissions Kate will organise and facilitate a successful partnership between artist and client.

Jon is a sculptor. He works mainly in mixed media installation, using made and found objects. The drive in all of his work is the pursuit of a shared experience through the manipulation, handling and consumption of objects.

Alongside completing a Masters in Fine Art at the University of Reading in 2004 Jon has worked on a wide selection of residencies and projects. In 2013 Jon was awarded a major Arts Council Grant for his project The Boundless Museum. He is currently working towards touring this exhibition.

As Head of Creative Thinking, Jon manages projects in which clients want to review and re-evaluate their approach towards how they work. From corporate team building to curriculum planning, Jon offers clients an alternative perspective to assist them in achieving their goals.
